Join Beyond Our Classroom Members for ROM Friday Night Live

You are invited to join educators, youth workers, university staff and community leaders of Beyond Our Classroom for a fun filled evening at the ROM Royal Ontario Museum.

Date: Friday February 5, 2016

5:00 p.m. Dinner at Duke of York Pub,
39 Prince Arthur Ave, Toronto, ON M5R 1B2  Map

6:45 p.m. Meet at the FNL Doors of the Royal Ontario Museum,
100 Queen’s Park, Toronto, ON M5S 2C6

Cost: $15 for ticket (you purchase in advance online); $2 donation to BOC: Beyond Our Classroom (payable to organizers on Feb. 5) + $2.50 for your coat check. Food and beverages are purchased inside using prepurchased ROM bucks.

ROM Friday Night Live Featured Entertainment: Level 1 – Currelly Gallery Mainstage

DJ K.I. : (7:00 – 11:30 pm)
Known for his diverse mixing, DJ K.I. has been entertaining party goers for two decades – join us on the mainstage for the hottest tracks in Reggae, Jazz, Soul, Funk, R&B, House, Socca, and Latin.

Feeling the One Drop: (9:30 – 10:00 pm)
Known for their uplifting reggae fusion sound, and bringing together elements of Soul, Hip Hop, and Roots Reggae. Feeling the One Drop are natives of Toronto and have performed on the national and international stage.

Featured Entertainment: Level 2 – Bronfman Hall

GUMBO: (7:00 – 11:00 pm)
Hosted by Wan and Chi, join DJ Revy B as she starts the party off with a soundtrack for Afrofusion dance class, choreographed by Esie Mensah and Pulga Muchochoma, and learn the latest dances from Africa and the West Indies. The featured Djs of Gumbo (Deemarks, Sean Sax, and Donet) will keep the party rolling till 11pm!

Level 2 – Teck Lounge
U of T Faculty of Music Jazz Program: (8:00 – 11:00 pm)
One of our #FNLROM favourties, watch them heat things up with some Afro Jazz beats!

Level 3 – European Lounge
U of T Faculty of Music (7:00 – 11:00 pm)
The U of T Faculty of Music rocks the house with House Jazz.

Featured Entertainment: Level 4 – Glass Room

DJ Jason Palma : (7:00 – 11:00 pm)
The host of High Ground on CUIT FM, and founder of Toronto’s infamous Play de Record, DJ Jason Palma is the hot spot for the lastest in underground music, whether it’s hip-hop, soul, drum n’ bass, dubstep, house, jazz, or rock.

Water Carry Me Go
Curated by Chinedu Ukabam (Toronto-based fashion designer and Creative Director of SUPAFRIK and Afrotropolis Arts Collective), this “fasion-art” installation features seven luminary and rising African or Afrodiasporic designers from around the word. In this unique and collaborative exhibit, each designer has created an original garmet inspired by the theme of water, delivering a beautifully diverse interpretation.
